CC Was Down For 36 Hours! What Did You Do With Your CC Time?!

Argued about the merits of standardized tests with a gas station attendant and then debated about the fairness of holistic admissions with someone that cold called to sell me life insurance. Suggested to a total stranger that if their kid was a National Merit Finalist they should consider Tulsa and Alabama.

Went to a Sisterhood Tu B’Shevat Fruit, Grains and Chocolate Seder with Sisterhood from our synagogue and another neighboring one. We all concluded that everything tastes better with dipping chocolate and we had a great time. (This doesn’t always happen at these events.) As president of the synagogue, this is sufficient reason to merge congregations. Our motto: " Chocolate Understands."

Also worked on the fabric engineering portion of S1’s LARP costume. Watched football (at the same time). Started a couple new sewing projects for gifts and income.

Checked here regularly to see if the statis version of CC was still online and checked old threads I’d never gotten around to reading.

I’m on our county and state Reddit and its much more sane than the local NextDoor or FB group. To read the latter two, you’d think we were living in a war zone. S2 lives in an actual war zone, so the local hyperbole just makes me angry.

The Reddit groups have had some great recommendations for food and contractors (both topics of high interest in our neck of the suburban woods).

Too much time on my hands, made a list of things to do next week while with GS alone for 6 days. Almost all are in the kitchen with the first making butter. Can I actually mess that up being just one ingredient, 2 if I add salt?

Sounds like you need to branch out on Reddit! There are some forums I stay FAR away from (mostly politics) but love the cooking threads, antiques, vintage, what is this thing, stupid food (fun). There is absolutely something for everyone there. Photography, art, DIY. You name it.

I’m too anxious for Reddit. The Russian-stacking-doll nature of it and the near-complete lack of moderation makes me crazy🤪

That really depends on the subreddit. Some are very heavy handed

Definitely depends on the crowd in particular subforums. The biotech ones I periodically peek at have been mostly on topic and very civil.

I read half of a book, caught up on La Brea, and did some crossword puzzles. But I admit that I had to remind myself that I wouldn’t find anything new in CC, so don’t peek at it.

Quilting, sewing and embroidery Reddits are quite civilized and supportive. There are also some crazy-good artisans there, and beginners to Reddit and the fiber arts are welcomed and supported.
