CC: Which language is the best for me to learn?

German - I really like the German language, plus I love Europe and listening to Rammstein :)

Standard Arabic - I am an Arab but I speak a dialect, I do not understand most Arabs when they speak unless they are from my country

Mandarin - China will have the largest economy, no doubt about it.

Which do you think is the best to learn?

Mandarin, you’re right about economy.

English.

Ooh!

Depends on what you want to do.

Prob spanish…

Spanish and Chinese are the most important languages to learn at the moment.

The one you’re most interested in. It will help with motivation and aptitude.

I would say German, since it seems to be the language you like the most (and Rammstein is awesome.) Learning a language isn’t the easiest thing to do in the world, but learning a language that you like will make the ride a lot smoother.

If you’re planning to learn more than one language, then I would recommend the order which you have just given: German, Standard Arabic, and Mandarin. German would be first since it’s the one you like the most, Standard Arabic since it’s familiarity, and Mandarin would be last since it’s very different from the other two languages and English.

You shouldn’t choose a language just because of practicality, unless you know that you’re going to move to a country which speaks that language. Russian used to be a big language to learn, but who wants to learn it now, besides myself and some Russophiles?

There was this time when Vietnamese was a very popular language to learn in Korea, because of some programs which made it easy to take vacations/study there. So there would be this Korean guy who got a major in Vietnamese and as soon as he got his degree, Vietnam turned communist and all those appealing programs have been cut off. Now what’s the use of that language? It might not have seemed as much of a waste had the guy had a geniune desire to learn Vietnamese because he liked the language, but he learned it for the practicality- one which flipped itself around.

Agreed. German, since you want to learn it most.

you have to learn 3 languages, english, mandarin and spanish

Agreed with BillyMc. What do you want to do?
