CCC help please.

I’m planning to transfer to UCLA as a communitcation major from a CCC. I know communication is impacted at UCLA and admission is chosen by the head of the department. My question is, Assists.org says choose “3 additional course from the list”. However, if iwant to be a more compeitive applicant, would it help to take all of the courses listed which is about 4-5 course and maybe risk my GPA?

Secondly, i pass my GOV & politics AP exam with a 3. However, they say i still won’t get credit for POL 1 at my CC unless i take another test, Challenge Test for Calif. Govt and pass that. Has anyone taken this test? how hard is it to pass?

I’d priortize the GPA. Extra classes only help to show your keen interest in the subject, which would only help in the case that you’re on the borderline.

I’m with bokchoi :)

“admission is chosen by the head of the department”

I doubt this is true.
I’m planning on transferring to UCLA with economics major.

I checked with counselors at the Economics Department AND the admissions office of UCLA, and both said that transfer application only gets reviewed by the general undergraduate admission committee and does not get passed down to the Department.
I know this is how it works for economics major, and I believe same holds for all other majors.
