I’d actually say that the Virginia community college system is better because they have guaranteed transfer options to UVA and William & Mary, both higher-ranked schools than California’s highest guaranteed transfer option, UCSD.

I don’t think that means much. A better indicator would measure something like faculty quality, student satisfaction, or diversity or something. A motivated student at a California community college achieving good grades would likely be accepted to Berkeley or UCLA. It really isn’t the community college so much as the student…i’d say virginia and california are about the same if anything.

I attend the VCC system as well (I go to Tidewater CC) and the sad part is I don’t even want to go to any school in VA, except for VCU. Other than that and NSU (My pathetic backup school which I hope I don’t have to go to) my other college choices are out of state. So that “agreement” does nothing for me because out-of-state tranfers are a whole different ball game.

What I’m trying to say is I agree with the person above me, I really don’t think one is better than the other. it just depends on the individual and how they choose to go about their education.

CCC is better in my opinion because you have more choices, for VCC, only good school you can go to is UVA. For CCC, UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD, UCSC, a lot more choices, courses will all transfer if you plan right.

Skarface I really dont think you have any idea of the quality of schools in VA, there have been threads in the general forum discussing why VA has some many great school for a population of just under 8 million people

UVA and WM continue to be among the nations premier public universities, JMU is regualry ranked as the numer 1 masters level public school in the south, and always in the over all top 5, VA Tech despite having to be compete against two instate public ivies is still ahigh respected school specifically in engineering, agriculture, natural resources, and business. Not to mention VCU and GMU are school continuously on “up and coming list”. Not trying to get in a ****ing match over VA v CA, but to say UVA is the only good school is a gross under statement.

Yeah, maybe I am comparing them too much by the US news standard. I like how I can get into UC by TAG, and there’s more than one UC I can choose from.
