CE vs AP?

Do colleges look at Concurrent Enrollment and AP differently? If yes, is AP preferred?

I’m currently a Sophomore, and next year I’ve signed up for three AP classes (Calc A/B, Physics, US History) and three Concurrent Enrollment classes (Literature, Intro to AC/DC, CAD). My GC doesn’t seem to think that taking Literature as a CE class will be a big deal (the other two CE classes are not offered any other way), but a recent chat with the regional recruiter from one of the schools that I’m interested in has me second guessing that. She said that some schools would prefer that my Literature class be AP instead. That said, she did say it probably wasn’t a deal breaker for her particular school.

Does anyone know how these two are viewed? If it matters, I plan to study Computer/Electrical Engineering. I’m not planning to apply to any Ivy League schools. My reach school is Georgia Tech.

Short answer - it depends.

Longer answer - Given a choice between AP and CE for the same material, AP would probably be the better option because it is a known product. The AP course has a standard syllabus that all schools/teachers have to more or less follow. The rigor of a CE course will depend on the instructor and/or institution offering.

That said, I doubt that are many, if any, situations where this would be a “make or break.” Good luck.
