I’ve always been interested in the stats and EC’s of some of the world’s most influential people.
Doesn’t have to be as elaborate as some of the “Chance Me” threads on here. If you have some info, post it! And this isn’t limited to just household names. Feel free to post stats and EC’s for anybody who’s made a significant impact in an industry from any time period.
I’ll start
Elon Musk
Schools: Wharton undergrad, Standford postgrad
GPA: 4.0 UW. I don’t know for sure, but I saw a documentary where he said that he took mostly computer classes in high school, and acknowledge that he often knew more than his teachers.
SAT: N/A. Transfer student from Africa, don’t think he took it.
EC’s: programmed and sold code to a company called ‘PC and Office Technology’. The game was called ‘Blastar’ and is still available today. Also was examined by IBM, where upon completion of the exam, they called Elon ‘one of the most able programmers we’ve ever seen.’
GPA: 4.0. He’s said on numerous occasions that his HS grades were ‘spotless’, so I’m left to assume 4.0
EC’s: The way computers worked back then, you’d rent server time from a company. He’d do this to program his software and eventually found a way to exploit the system to grant himself extra hours. This led the Computer Center Corporation to hire him to try and find backdoors and bugs in their system
Elon Musk transferred to Penn from Queen’s University in Canada, so he didn’t get into Penn in the freshman round. I don’t think Queen’s is that hard to be admitted to. Anecdotally, I know a couple people who were admitted to Queen’s, they are solid students no doubt, but both of them failed to get into any top 50 schools in the U.S., never mind Penn. Also I believe Penn was around as hard to get into in the 1990s when he went as schools such as BU, Rochester, and Lehigh are now. It was a simpler time.
