As a Penn State parent with celiac, I had the good fortune to eat dinner with my student (non-celiac) in Pollock Commons. I did not give them any advance warning, but I approached one of the student staff in the dining hall to ask her about the availability of GF choices. She asked what I would like to eat and returned a short time later with a GF pizza and chocolate chip cookies, with every precaution taken to avoid cross-contamination (Items wrapped in plastic, etc). It was some of the best GF food I’ve had. Bravo, Penn State Food Service, for helping to make college a nourishing, delicious and safe experience for students with Celiac disease!

This is a big step that all college campuses should embrace…but students should not have to “call an hour in advance” to order their meals…

Bravo PSU, but this needs to be “tweaked”…it crossed a number of schools off my daughter’s list back in 2011…

gF stations are the way to go…many other schools have converted to that model for GF
