My dad hates his phone becasue he can’t read it while outside. He doesn’t need a smart phone. Does anyone know of a cell phone that is easy to read in the sunlight?

Has he tried flipping the screen theme to light characters on a dark background?

The phone is old, so he needs something new.

I use the Motorola RAZR - an old school phone that’s durable (metal case instead of plastic) and functional. They’re around $60 at WalMart Online or Ebay.

I just got my dad a new phone and after going round and round, I decided on a Samsung Convoy 2 from Verizon. He wanted a free phone but those had terrible reviews. I somehow finessed the deal so he didn’t quite understand that I was paying for the phone - very smooth on my part! The Convoy 2 was most similar to his old phone so easy to learn and had good reviews. I set it up for him but can’t remember if there was a sunlight problem. I did increase the font size on the clock outside and change the menu symbols to a list. I made sure everybody is on his contact list, including all his doctors and three emergency contacts. I put him into the phone as “Me” with the phone number so he could remember it. I also set a loud ring tone and made it announce who was calling. Lastly, I took photos of the whole family with it and set it so a photo shows up whenever someone on the list calls him. He is very pleased with the phone and seemed relieved to have someone else make the decision. At age 81 he’s doing a pretty good job keeping up with technology - even uses Facebook - but can easily become frustrated and overwhelmed.

The Jitterbug is made especially for seniors and is REALLY easy to read.
