cell phones at umd

what’s the best cell phone service (best reception, least dropped calls, etc.) and the best plan at umd?

I’ll be honest and tell you that I can’t answer that question in it’s entirety, but I can tell you that while I was there verizon service was fine.

DS has ATT and he gets signals where his verizon friends don’t, That being said his verizon friends get signals where he doesn’t. So it is a crap shoot!

We have Sprint and DS had no trouble communicating from the dorm he was staying at either time.

I would imagine that most cell services would be pretty good because it’s so near DC.

People tend to have all kinds of plans…

I have Verizon and it works - well, it goes in and out, but you can text - in the metro tunnels (and in the train in the tunnels). Which is pretty cool; my AT&T friends are always jealous haha. But again they get service some places I don’t…

Do the dorms tend to all have service reguardless of company? (I’ll be living in Ellicott)

Yeah, basically you get service in the dorms and the dining hall regardless of what carrier you have. I have Verizon and it works great but I haven’t really heard any complaints from others, although I do know someone that had Sprint with weird reception at times, but nothing bad. Either way, as soon as you walk into a lot of buildings and lecture halls, EVERYONE losses service anyway!
