How tough is this school? They seem to produce many pre-med students (sounds like a tough science department). What about the Business School? Their facilities are great - how about the academics?

Thanks

A girl D knows who is a Freshman has nothing but glowing reports, except for a few days the a/c didn’t work. Shreveport? In September with no A/C? Welcome to Hell. She was a very good student at D’s high school, but probably was just outside top 10%. She appears to be blossoming into a much more confident adult at Centenary, which I guess is probably most important of all. She smiles more, talks more, overall seems far happier.

Her first tests reports have been reasonably good and her parents feel that it is a good fit for her.(that may be an understatement. LOL.). She also received a good deal of merit money to attend. I have really been telling a lot of people about it because this kid’s transformation is worthy of a John Hughes teen movie.

This is a very old post but I stumbled upon it because I live in Shreveport, but did not attend Centenary. Centenary is a private, Methodist college with a student population about 800-900. It has a very good reputation, especially in the area of the students they send to medical school. My husband received an MBA from Centenary and I have many friends who graduated from there and loved their time their. The campus is charming, in my opinion. Many very outstanding students from the Shreveport area choose to attend there because they do offer good financial aide.

Thanks for bumping this. We live in NOLA, and know several kids who are attending there. All love it. A couple went for swimming, as they wanted to keep up their sport, but knew they couldn’t compete on the Division I level. What they found was a warm, nurturing campus where they not only got the opportunity to continue their sport, but are also getting a great education. Another friend has been in theater since early age and is able to pursue that on the collegiate level as well. A small campus draws a lot of kids, too, who don’t want the big sprawl of LSU.

a hidden gem!

Terrific choirs and music ed opportunities. Very good scholarship opportunities as well.
