I would think it’s all DIY. It’s probably just like your dorm rooms from years past. It’s cleaned before you move in, it’s cleaned after you move out. In between, you clean it yourself if you don’t like being dirty.

Cool. Do you guys know if there is a Kroger/Target, Walmart or something like that nearby to buy groceries at other than Uncle Harry’s? Does the DATA (Durham area transit) go near there?

There’s Target, Kroger, and Wal-mart all within 10 minutes or so with a car. All three are up the 15-501 a bit, I think…been a while since I’ve driven to them.

Thanks guys, good stuff…one last thing. I looked at the bus routes, and it looks like the C4 stops running around 1 am most nights. If I’m still on west somewhere around that time or even later, has anyone ever just slept somewhere on west, like in the library, instead of going back. I’d rather not walk back late at night to central campus. Any thoughts?

SafeRide operates from 5pm to 7am daily except for certain holidays.

Otherwise it’s acceptable to crash on the teer basement couches. Those comfy BC couches and armchairs are also pretty good too. Idk about the library as I’ve never seen many couches in there where you can stretch out but I have slept in the library for a quick nap during an all-nighter.

Personally I would recommend the teer couches as I’ve actually had a comfortable nap on them once or twice.

at that rate, by the time you get back to central you just might have enough time to take a shower, shave, grab a bite to eat, then head back to west for classes (if you’ve got morning classes)

Does anyone know if there is an eprint or laundry facility on Central?
And how’s walking back from the bus to the apartment late an night on weekdays?
I’m pretty happy that Freeman Ctr is relatively close by so that I can relax with some tv if I want to: I feel like that’s the closest thing Central Campus has to a “hub”.

Eprint IIRC is sparsely located around central and there should be laundry facilities throughout central too. As for walking back from the bus, I wouldn’t know. My apartment is right by the bus stop. I’ve never actually been to the freeman center either. Might check it out if I’ve got time.

SBR, do you guys ever cook in the apartment/is the kitchen actually usuable. I just realized that the Central meal plan is really really low so I’ll be going to Food Lion alot, sigh.

I know I’ll cook so that kitchen better be usable…but I’ve seen pictures, it’s a little on the small side but should be all right.

You could always add more points. All meal plans except the freshmen ones are all food points anyway, so it doesn’t even matter that they are on the low side.

S1 was on Central last year–his building backed up to the Duke Gardens, so he rarely used any shuttles, as he could just cut right through (and I know they did that many evenings, too–although I’m not sure how late!)

They had to clean the apartment themselves, and buy the supplies. The kitchen was very usable–S1 did quite a bit of basic cooking (and some tv dinner type food, too!) instead of going back to the campus for dinner!
