Chain Reaction

mantori.suzuki’s Moe’s thread has me thinking…

What chains (large or small) are you glad came to your area or do you hope will?

For example, for many of us our dearest holiday wish is that Trader Joe’s will open a store within an hour’s drive or our homes. I have friends in the capital district area of New York, and they are just thrilled that Dinosaur Bar-b-cue is coming to Troy. [Dinosaur BBQ - Genuine Barbeque Sauce, Hot Sauce, and Marinades](http://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/)

But, I must say, if I never see another Applebee’s/Pizzeria Uno/Walmart/Target/Lowes/Borders/Ruby Tuesday complex, that would be OK.

I was glad when a Famous Dave’s BBQ opened here in northern San Diego County. I had eaten there many times in visits to Minneapolis, and I was glad to see them branch out to CA.

Since Trader Joe’s began here in SoCal, we are fortunate to have several stores to choose from in our area. Same with In-N-Out Burgers.

Oh, yeah, Sonic. We want Sonic.

I wish In and Out Burger would come to the east coast.

pageturner: congrats on the Dinosaur BBQ; its great!!

In our neck of the woods, a Wegman’s would be peachy…

AND we need:
Nordstram Rack
Whole Foods

Sheesh, we have nothing…

Oh, yeah, Wegman’s! We need Wegman’s.

Whole Foods.
University of New Hampshire (well, it’s a small chain).
Fryes.

We just got a local Apple Store which is wonderful.

And Ikea. We want Ikea.

Culver’s, Sonic, In and Out, Wegman’s. We already have Trader Joe’s, but I wish there was one closer to my house.

AND Jamba Juice.

Happy to have Nordstrom’s Rack and Five Guys nearby.

Wow… I feel so lucky. There are 6 relatively large malls within 30-min driving distance from my house. There is even a Neiman Marcus… There are 3 Costcos within easy reach. A trip to Fry’s or IKEA takes a while, about 45 minutes, so we don’t go there often.

Wegmans. I never bother to go anyplace else now.

Chipotle, EL Pollo Loco

We, the people, demand Waffle House and Chick-Fil-A up north, In-and-Out back east, and Kopp’s Frozen Custard everywhere outside of Milwaukee.

Bob Evans. The closest one’s two hundred miles south. Oh, and my D would like to a request a … well this crowd’s too sophisticated, but she really misses their triple-peppered hash browns.

My husband and I still talk about our breakfast at Bob Evans in Bloomington. It was so good and so reasonably priced.

Other than that, we pretty much have most of the businesses mentioned. Love Trader Joe’s and In’n’Out.

I don’t get Five Guys. We have a new one locally and stopped in. It was a Saturday night in an otherwise empty strip mall but the Five Guys was packed with cars and a long line in the store. We gave it a try and they do make nice burgers but couldn’t understand the fanaticism of their customers. Everytime I go by, I check the parking lot and am amazed that they have a lot of customers.

We are in Wegmans country - is it pushy to ask for Trader Joes too? I have one of those TJ reusable grocery bags, and as I was leaving Wegmans recently a woman chased me into the parking lot saying, “You have to tell me where the Trader Joes is!” :)

I would also like to have some of the chain restaurants some of you are probably tired of by now: Macaroni Grill, Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang’s, Maggiano’s, Chipotle. I would happily give up a Burger King (or several) in exchange …
