Schools I’m looking at:
-Stanford
-Princeton
-Harvard
-Dartmouth
-Penn
-Vanderbilt
-Duke
-USC
-UC Berkley
-UC Davis

Chance me?

Decent chances to slam dunks (chanced from top to bottom)

Your stats are impressive. Harvard, Princeton and Stanford are reach for anyone, but you are a really strong candidate so there are possibilities that you’ll end up in one of these three
You’ll get in at AT LEAST one of those you mentioned, in my opinion.

Chance back?

Your average applicant. I disagree with KupLor. You have average ECs, and Average to low scores(34 is kinda low for HYPS). You have a chance at the schools, but they are high reaches. I think USC, Berkley, and Davis are solid. Your list is way to reach heavy. One safety and 2 matches. Would you be happy with that selection?

I cn tell you your in at Davis others idk but you are definitely competitive for them. I would say that 3+ will be acceptances from the rest of the list.
Chance me back? “Finding Match Schools” is the title

With all due respect imsoambitious, I don’t think a rising hs sophomore can reliably comment on the OPs ECS (which include ISEF grand and special awards, and leadership positions both within and outside of school); the experience level isn’t there yet.

As for scores, once you reach the “threshold”.(whatever that may be), the rest of your entire picture comes into play. You have reached the threshold in every school listed. Will the schools love the “rest of their picture?” I think most will, but I would love to hear some senior members views.

That is true, I am not of the same experience as other posters, and I would like to clarify that by average, I mean average for HYPS, you are definitely are a great applicant and will go to a great school. I think the Research and Equestrian activities stand out, but these are not “hooks” per say at the caliber of schools you are applying to. And I would also consider Vanderbilt a match, so 3 matches and 1 safety is all I see. I don’t see how anyone can call any other schools on the list a math/safety. This is why I think the OP should consider a more balanced list.

I disagree with the above posters. You have some pretty dang good ECs and the rest of the stats necessary to be a strong applicant in all of the schools you’ve mentioned - but of course, so do a large amount of other applicants, which is why so many qualified people get rejected.

Good luck!

Hey MelRachel, i think u have pretty solid chances. at every school. c’mon… ISEF? that’s prestigious. 1st place? amazing.
so where did u decide to apply early? personally, i think ur chances @ Stanford SCEA are really high. would recommend that.

LOOK AT THOSE AWARDS!!! I don’t care what other people are saying but with your, GPA, scores, AWARDS!, ECS!, ethnicity, and courseload, you’re an good match for almost all those schools on your list.

Excellent chance at any school in the US.

However, it is a numbers game at the very top schools, so I don’t think that anyone can say that one is a slam dunk at any of those schools. This being said, I see no weaknesses in your resume.

Re ECs – look excellent to me.
Hooks – Female Engineering/STEM who is qualified by the numbers is a big plus.

Like others have mentioned, it’s impossible to say you’re a guarantee at the first couple of schools you listed. That being said, I think you’d be a match at Vandy, UC Davis, Berkeley, and USC. I agree with the person who said your list is reach heavy. There are some great public schools that you’d be a perfect match for (especially for biomedical engineering). I think you’d get into UMich easily.

You are a strong candidate and definitely a match for Vanderbilt, USC, UCB & UCD, Dartmouth and Penn. I would even throw in Columbia. Work on your essay and you definitely have excellent chances of being admitted to Stanford and Princeton.
