I am a NJ resident attending a community college in Jersey and I am currently enrolled in summer classes and have 1 semester left before I am finally done with this place. I actually used to go to Monmouth University years ago but didn’t do well and had financial issues so I withdrew and started working. I am studying Accounting and I was just wondering what my chances are if I apply for admissions into Spring 2014.

My cumulative GPA at Bergen Community College is a 3.7. Is there really any other information that is needed when it comes to an OOS transfer student?

You should check the Credit Transfer Service to see which of your credits from Bergen and Monmouth transfer to IU. Check out the Icore prerequisites to see how many of those you have fulfilled. Consider taking at Bergen CC some of the more difficult Icore prerequisites that grade harshly at IUB, yet are not required to take at IUB in order to meet admissions to Kelley (admission to IU and admission to Kelley are not the same thing). Some of the Icore courses that are very difficult at IUB but not required for your Kelley application include business law, ENG W131 English Comp, microeconomics, Calculus I at Bergen would substitute for Math M211 at IUB. You could take macroecon at Bergen and get it out of the way, too. Both A201 Financial accounting and A202 Managerial Accounting transfer from Bergen to IUB.

Just make sure not to take the four minimum required classes that your must take on the Bloomington campus in order to apply to Kelley. Here is a list of the minimum to apply. Go to IUB in spring, take the minimum to get in, and get your admissions decision after only one semester. I recommend for your first semester take only 12 credits, all from the Kelley admissions list.

K201
Macroecon or microecon or business law or A201 Financial Accounting(whichever you don’t transfer from Bergen/Monmouth)
BUS C104
M118 Finite or M119 Calculus
