Chance a current Junior for the Ivies!

Hi!

Junior
Private high school
Caucasian
Income: $780,000

SAT: 1650 (550/500/600 cr/w/r) I’m gonna retake…

GPA: 4.0/4.7

CLASS SCHEDULE (Note: Usually, kids at my school only take one year of a certain science; for example, they’ll take AP Chemistry their Junior year w/o prior knowledge of Chem, but I decided to take the regular course first, then the honors course, and then the AP course. This way, I’m basically guaranteed to always get an A and to nail a 5 on the AP exam. Also, the same teachers teach the CP, H, and AP course at my school, so they get to know me really well, helping with letters of rec).

-5 French Language

I’m probably going to get all 5s this year, too. Except for English Language. I’m gonna probably get a 4.

Desired Major: Any type of Physics. I have a great background, a nice understanding, and a general love for it. It comes easy to me.

Subject tests:
-800 French
-800 Math II
-720 World History

ECs:

I focus all of my time outside of school work on BBYO. It’s a youth organization. I’m on regional board (three states). I’m Gizbor, or treasurer. As you could probably imagine, I can’t find any more time. I study well over 8 hours a day after school, and 5 hours on weekends.

Chance me:
Stanford EA
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
Duke
Brown
Cornell

As a California resident, I’m gonna get into all of the UCs. I don’t mean to be arrogant, but I just can’t see myself not getting into UCLA or Berkeley.

What will colleges think of my low SAT?

Try really hard to bump up your sat… I’m struggling with the same problem. BTW, do you go to a magnet school? ~O)

what about your race and what ECs do you have

I wrote Caucasian and just BBYO, @verizonwireless‌

And no. I go to a regular private school

In this case, race doesn’t matter. The test scores are too low. As a California resident, you are NOT getting into UCLA or Berkeley and you are not getting into any Ivy League school or any college that is even remotely as selective. You aren’t even getting into UCSB, UCD, or UCSC. Not with those test scores and not with that arrogance. Those are in the stratosphere for you. The standards for a a rich, male, private school student are ridiculously high at the schools you named. Not that it would matter for you, but save the money and don’t apply. Unless you can increase your SAT score by 500 points, save those adcoms the effort of reading your application.

What happened to that 2380 on the SAT you mentioned when you made a Chance Me last year? And where did that million dollar income go? And your Grammy nominated parents lol?

Oh , wow your school offers many aps. My school only offers 6… Anyway, what about EC

Is bbyo that bnai brith jewish thing ?

There seem to be a lot of discrepancies between this chance thread and the one you made last year…? Somehow, your SAT seems to have dropped 730 points. I think you have little to no chance at the schools you’re applying to. If you can only get a 1650 SAT but somehow have a 4.0, your school probably has crazy grade inflation. I’m not even sure if you have a 4.0 considering you lied about your courses and SAT on past threads. With an SAT score of 1650, the only thing that will be guaranteed from UCB and UCLA is a denial letter. Post honest stats and threads on here and please don’t sound as arrogant on your essays as you did in this thread.

@agc1998, you are literally everything that’s wrong with college confidential. I know literally 7 kids who got into UCLA and Berkeley with GPAs at 4.4, and SATs below 1700. Your crazy high expectations for students to get into good schools has leaked onto other threads, as now kids with the stats I just posted wouldn’t even consider applying to the Ivies, even though they might get in. College confidential literally discourages hundreds of students every year from applying to their dream schools. You should be ashamed of yourself. And by the way, this post was not arrogant at all. Realistically, with the stats I just posted, as person is basically guaranteed to get into any UC he or she wants.

Also, @agc199, with AP test scores at a 5, it should be obvious that grade inflation is not a problem at that school

The average SAT scores for admitted students at UCLA is 2033. There are clear discrepancies in what the OP is reporting. There is no way you get 800 on the Math 2 SAT II and then 600 on the SAT. Not to mention the 700 point decrease in the SAT score the OP reported last year and this year. Go back under your bridge.

You got 5’s on fluff AP exams.

No, YOU should be ashamed of yourself for lying on a previous thread and having the balls to post a new one, trying to chance yourself at top schools. With your arrogant and deceiving personality, you are not a match at any of these schools. Who knows you aren’t lying about your 7 APs either?

What’s wrong with you?

@skieurope‌ Can you please take action against the OP.

You posted a thread in here to be chanced and I chanced you. Just because you don’t like the outcome doesn’t mean I’m “what’s wrong with college confidential”. My honest assessment is that you won’t get in with your current SAT scores. Your friends who got in with sub-1700 SAT scores are the exception, not the rule. Anyone would tell you that with your current SAT score, chances are slim for highly selective schools with 17-18% acceptance rates. It’s arrogant to say that you will definitely be admitted to these schools. Also, there’s a ton of discrepancies worth noting in this post and your previous posts. Sorry if I was kinda rude, but lying about stats and arrogance isn’t something that the people on this website like. I wish you all of the luck in your pursuits though

And if you’re complaining about college confidential, DO NOT GO ON IT. However, I have found it very helpful and will continue to use it.

Everybody hella salty lmao

Also the negative commenters calling this kid out DO embody the worst of CC (you really want an Admin to block him???). Obviously this is a smart kid with a 4.0 and a strong course rigor of 6 APs in a year. I’d recommend for you to take the ACT and do more EC’s (even though you are really passionate about BBYO).
GPA is regarded much higher than a test score since it takes years of work rather than 3 hours on test.
Also kill the essays. The essays make or break you.

Source: accepted to an ivy with 3.9 and a 2350

“Obviously this is a smart kid with a 4.0…”

Maybe. The problem is that it’s tough to know whether or not the original poster is telling us the truth. Look at this thread from March 2014:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1633258-chance-me-ucsd-usc-ucla-uc-berkeley-yale-caltech-harvard-mit-and-stanford.html#latest

There are any number of discrepancies between the two threads. The two things that jump out at me are last year’s claimed 2380 vs. a 1650 in this thread, and last year, he/she was in a southern California charter school, and this year, he/she is in a private school. I guess the poster could have changed schools, but the SAT discrepancy is tough to explain. And so far, no explanation has been offered.

As for the poster’s target schools, they are mostly unlikely. At UCLA, an SAT of 1650 puts the poster in the bottom 25%. Even worse at Berkley. Harvard? MIT? I just don’t think so. Even as a recruited athlete, a 1650 is extremely unlikely for an Ivy.

And then, there is the issue of internal consistency in the story the poster is telling. Bunches of 5s, wildly high GPA, very high SAT IIs,… but an SAT of 1650?

I suppose it’s possible, but I’m not betting the farm.

@notjoe @agc1998 The CLASSES are all different too. The EC list also shrank. The BBYO thing is still there, but somehow all the other ECs disappeared.

Well, this was quite interesting to read. I think the lesson learned here is: honesty is the best policy.
