I am applying to UCD, UCB, UCLA, Cal Poly, and USC. I am aware that none of these schools are really “safe” and suggestions for some safety schoold are appreciated. Thanks.

Why did you kill your essay? There was still more than a week to submit the applications. Nevertheless, applicants are usually not the best at predicting how well their essays were written, so the chances below assume your essay was an average 50 percentile.

UCD - Match. Fairly simple admissions process. Higher SAT scores offset low grades.
UCB - Reach. Depending on rank, you have a crap-shot at this college
UCLA - Reach. See above.
Cal Poly Low match. See UCD
USC - Low Reach.

You should have applied for more UCs. Santa Cruz and Riverside would definitely have been safties.

Berkeley - reach, but there’s a chance.

Yea, maybe I should’ve said that I shouldn’t be limited by my essays. Thanks for the replies.
