Chance a female aspiring computer scientist?

Race: Asian
Gender: Female

SAT: 2270 (790 M, 750 W, 730 CR)

Subjects (hopefully–taking in June):
Math II: 800
Chemistry: 800

GPA:
Old school (up till sophomore year): 4.813 W, 4.0 UW
New school (junior + senior): 5.636 W, 4.0 UW
(5.636 will probably rise to a 5.75 to 5.8 ish by end of 1st term senior year)

Old school was a public school, pretty bad–5’s on the AP tests were super rare
New school is pretty renowned, on list of “Public Elite High Schools”–straight A’s very rare

APs:
Statistics: 5
(next few are to happen in May, so estimated)
Computer Science: 4 or 5
Chinese: 4 or 5
Calculus BC: 4 or 5
Chemistry: 4 or 5

ECs:
Computer Science
- Leader of Programming Group Sophomore Year
- Android Application programming (Just started, soon to be earning $1000/month)
- Senior year: will be researching computer science w/ a professor at a university, hopefully in artificial intelligence
- Junior Year summer: either programming more Android apps or internship @ IBM, HTC, etc
Intramural Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, and Ultimate Frisbee
Key Club all years of high school, with over 400 total hours of community service
Science Olympiad freshman + sophomore year; 5th place at regionals for elevated bridge
Speech and Debate junior/senior year; 5th place at regional for novice PF
Chemistry research (might be significant)

Awards:
National Merit (228 PSAT)
Character Award for Responsibility
Highest Average Award in Honors Algebra II
Highest Average Award in Honors Pre-Calculus
Highest Average Award in Computer Science I/II
Highest Average Award in AP Statistics
Highest Average Award in Honors Physics
"Most Likely to Become a Scientist Award” in Honors Chemistry
Highest Average Award in Honors English II
Recognized at College of Charleston Computer Science Competition as first female programming team ever to compete (in 29 years)
Android App sales? (I dunno if this counts as an award)

Recs:
AP Chemistry Advanced Teacher–should be very good
AP Computer Science Teacher–should also be very good
English Teacher–should be okay to good, not terribly great

Haven’t written essays, etc yet but I’m going to work very hard on them. I know that I don’t have terribly great ECs/Awards, etc, but I still want to aim high (even if I fail).

What would my chances be for Cornell, UC Berkeley, Caltech, MIT, Stanford, Carnegie Mellon (SCS), and Princeton?

Also, here’s my workloads:
Junior Year Total:
-AP Calculus BC (6.0)
-AP Chemistry (6.0)
-AP Computer Science (6.0)
-US History (5.0)
-American Literature (5.0)
-Evolution (Biology course–6.0)
-Research in Computer Science I (5.0)
-Advanced Programming (Computer Science course that goes beyond AP–6.0)

Expected Senior Year 1st term:
-Multi-variable Calculus (6.0)
-Genetics (6.0)
-Asian History/Literature (6.0)
-Research in Computer Science II (6.0)
-Advanced Physics (Not quite AP physics, so weighted as a 5.5)

this is really good if you’re pursuing a career in computing , especially if you apply to tech and engineering oriented schools like CalTech … android sales ? what app ? how much revenue did you garner ?

impressive - everything . that 790 in math is great for tech schools . i can’t say anything for MIT , because all those who applied to it from here got rejected , and they have a killer resume like you .

a female programmer … wow . it’s a very focused thing you have there . that android thing - i sincerely believe that there aren’t many students who do that . haha good job! (:

but what on earth is “terribly great” ? oxymoron much ? lol

okay , so:

Carnegie Mellon = reach … maybe high reach
Caltech = in
Cornell = in …hmm
UC Berkeley = in
Princeton = cannot say
MIT = cannot say … let’s just hope (: . if your resume wasn’t filled with just tech tech tech then perhaps reach . i know you’re being focused , but there are plentiful of students who are so tech oriented . your sport stuff is very mere and concealed
Stanford = you probably by some stroke of luck might get in . it’s a good reach .

But , tech asian girl , you will get into half of these colleges . good luck .

Carnegie Mellon = you might get in ***

^Thanks for the input :)

What I meant when I said “I don’t have terribly great ECs/Awards” was that my ECs/Awards aren’t too great–like, I haven’t won a national competition or done groundbreaking research or anything. A lot of kids who apply to Ivies/similar schools have done things like that, so that’s why I said I didn’t have incredible ECs/Awards (for example, a chemistry genius who goes to my high school created a new kind of paper for which she’s gone to international research competitions in China and other places–she applied and got in to MIT).

I know I’m not very diverse :frowning: Sadly, I’m quite awful at sports, so I can only participate in intramurals. I’m hoping the colleges will focus more on my programming ECs…that’s the only thing that’ll really stand out on my application.

You have a good chance at all colleges. I’m sure you will end up somewhere great.

^Thanks. I really hope so–I was sort of worried due to my lack of leadership and awards (though I’m pretty sure I’ll have a leadership position or two next year). I guess the main thing for me now is if I can actually pay for these schools, since they cost so much (I’m not even a resident of California, so UC Berkeley will cost me as much as all the others…)
