Chance a first gen athlete for LSA

Will my first gen and athlete status make up for my GPA?

Background:

 • South/East Asian
 • First gen college student
 • First gen to be born in America

Stats:
GPA: 3.5
SAT: Not yet taken. It’s not required in my state but I’m taking both ACT and SAT.
ACT: Not sure what the score is yet but I think I did really good on it.
PLAN: 29 (out of 30)

APs:
APUSH - 5
AP Micro/Macro - 5
AP Eng Lang - 4

ECs:
Key Club (10, 11)
DECA (11)
Varsity Track & Field (10)

Awards:
Congressional recognition
Nationally ranked Track & Field athlete

Intended major: Economics with a Mathematics minor

I also have a part time job as a junior if it matters.

You should contact Michigan track and field coach. If he wants to recruit you as athlete, you will get in.

^The coach is basically the deciding factor if you get in or not. Without him, probably not. Hope you run fast(new balance indoor nationals? I was there cheering a friend)

I’ll contact him, but what do my chances look like without the recruitment?

You haven’t taken the ACT yet so it’s almost impossible to say. Your GPA is very low for Michigan though so I’d really try to get on the track team if you want to go here.

What is (are) your event(s) and what are your times (distances)?
