Are you willing to name the colleges/universities that provided such generous need based financial aid ?
Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree that many of the generous schools provide the things you mention to limited income students. But not all do, including not all QB partners, even for matched finalists. There can be quite a difference in aid packages/behaviors between Bowdoin and Oberlin, to take on example. (Both are QB partners.)
The good news is OP can research financial aid practices via school websites and also contact an FA staffer.
