what are my chances? be honest. have any school recommendations?
thanks

UPenn and Cornell are big reaches, but they are for just about anyone. JHU and Emory may also be reaches for you. The others, I think, you have decent chances at. I think overall that you have a good list, but you may want to cut down on some schools. Applying to 13 is a lot, and when you have to fill out all those applications and write those essays, you won’t be a happy camper at all. Narrow it down to about 8-10 if you can.

You’re definitely in at Wake, but if you want to major in communications, you have no business going there. My dad went there his first two years of college, with the idea of majoring in communications too, and hated it - he ended up leaving Wake Forest after that, not because of the school, family issues, but he also decided not to come back after that. The communications department is subpar, and there are better schools you should consider going to for that. Your list should probably be cut down, and though I can’t tell you much about economics at Wake, it would be one I would consider removing from the list. I might be biased, but if you’re serious about communications, look at UNC. It’s not far from Wake Forest, and has one of the best Journalism & Mass Communications schools in the country. I don’t know where you live, but if its out of NC, there’s a 20% acceptance rate that I think you have a good chance of beating. It’s definitely where I want to go to major in public relations (: I’d also look at UVA, if I were you.

Look at your school connections and search acceptance history. Tells you average GPA, SAT, ACT and acceptance rate to all schools within the past 5 years. Very Very handy. If your school is know for being rigorous, ADcoms will know.
Weak is probably your class rank (this is coming from me so take it with a grain of salt) and EC. Go more indepth than just community service. Every kid in my school is FORCED to do 20-30 hours of community service. A for Admission describes Editors in Chief as a dime a dozen lol. Expand on ECs would help.

My school leaves our ranks confidential and tells colleges we’re unranked…
Our school has al ot of athletic recruits so you need a 3.4 toget into harvard…obviously not true its the same for all of my schools …
thats why im here

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Cook for the homeless every week
Teach students mathematics at every level from algebra 1 to ab calculus
AIDS WALK

Other EC’s:
Journalism Society: We have a bulletin where we pick from dozens of articles every week that relate to current events and post them hoping to make fellow students aware of the world
Young Republicans: We ran mock elections in school and have weekly discussions
MUN President: Self explanatory’
Varsity Tennis: #5singles
Varsity Squash: #3singles
Xylophone player in the band: self explanatory
Animal Rights Club member: work every sunday at the shelter
I’ve written for newspapers in 3 countries in 3 languages (Japanese, Dutch and English)
is that helpful in evaluating my EC’s?
