Chance a high school junior?

From: Princeton High School, Princeton, NJ
I have a 3.8 weighted and a 3.44 unweighted GPA. I did very well freshman year, but last years grades brought me down a lot. I’m counting on pulling up my unwrighted to at least a 3.6 this year.
I took the PSAT and scored a 182,
though im taking the SAT soon and im actually studying for it.

Im very involved in extracurriculars.
I did 2 years of spring and winter track, but this year i have been focusing more on Set Design for musicals and plays in school as an art extracurricular.
I also volunteer at LINK [a community service group devoted to helping senior citizens in need]

I know my stats are weak, but if i improve this year and senior year, would I still have a shot at NYU?

Are you planning on applying ED? That will help significantly. Is there any reason why last year’s grade was so low? If yes, address it, if not 3.6 uw is kind of low but it will help you out a lot rather then a 3.44. I think I got like a 180 something on my PSAT too, but without studying on the SAT I got a 2000, so at least for me I didn’t see it as a good indicator of what I could do (and I had friends who scored better then me on the PSAT and worse the me on the SAT first time around…so it all depends.) If you study and could bring it up to make up for your GPA. What school do you want to apply to? That also can make a big difference. If it’s Stern, that’d be a much slimmer chance to get into then another school, and even the other schools vary from eachother. (If you don’t know the school, what do you want to major in/do with your life?) Also, is there anyway you can get leadership positions in any of the EC’s you do for senior year?
Good luck, you seem to be on the right track if you bring up your GPA and study for the SATs.

I will definitely be applying ED if I feel that I have a shot at getting in. I wish to apply to their school of arts and sciences.
Do either of these factors adjust my chances at all?
