Political intern (40 hour work weeks - 12 weeks) came up with super duper policy proposal. Discussed proposal with Prof. at Yale law school who was part of the Clinton Administration. Got a letter of recommendation from a TIME 100 political leader - world famous Al Gore’s friend. Also got letter of recommendation from CEO of boutique investment firm who was very impressed with my work.

I’d appreaciate any feedback. Thanks guys!

Excellent resume! The problem is that i dont see anything related to business at all.

Sorry i should have made that clearer. The “policy proposal” i made is a derivative. It basically lifts from some existing derivatives and applies it to a new industry in a novel way. So i kinda made my own derivative. The CEO of the botique firm got excited about that and offered to write my rec. As did the political people i was working for. I also showed a former president of goldman sachs my derivative and he said it was 'a good idea" He is an alum of my school. It took me 6 months to make the bloody thing hopefully it’ll all be worth it come December 11th.

I won’t make any definitive conclusions, as you’re a complex candidate, but here are a few things – good and bad – that jumped off the page:

(1) Your ethnicity. It will help – a lot.
(2) Your SAT I math score. I wish it were higher.
(3) Did you take SAT II Math II? If no, that’s not good, particularly in light of your SAT I Math score.
(4) You actually wrote your own derivative? Awesome – I hope your essay or teacher rec highlights this.
(5) Are you in the Top 10% of your class? If no, you could be in trouble.

Overall, I think you’ll get in, but I’m not sure. Best of luck to you.

Thanks.

I am taking the Math SAT II this Saturday, I feel confident I can do very very well on it.

My school absolutely does not rank. That being said some people even in the bottom 25 % often get into Yale, Harvard and such school every single year (though they are mostly sports recruits or UBER legacies ie. buildings at the schools named after them). I am 100% sure that it is impossible for me to be in the top 10% though (I am probably in the top 10- 20%) :frowning: as almost 100% of those kids end up at Yale and Princeton and Harvard Stanford etc . I know that every single African American from my school that applied ED for the past 5 years got in. but almost all went to CAS not Wharton and that is probably very different. I am almost certain none of them were in the top 10% here. Some may have been in the top 25 %. Almost all blacks in the top 10% here go to Yale or Princeton. They do not like Harvard for some reason. Will my class rank keep me out ? Even with my URM and my reasonably high sat score ?

Hopefully my derivative will be impressive enough to outweigh my class rank. I mean i really did pour my heart and soul into that thing. I must have spent over 300 hours over 6 months working on it. Consulting profs etc.

I was worried about my SAT math score. I know it is low for Wharton and that worries me. But hopefully my AP Calc A (at a top prep school) will help compensate for that. I am pretty good at math no idea why i sucked on the SAT I though.

I think the weakest part of my application is, as you said, the Math score. Will they hold that against me ? My writing score aint that hot (although I did get an 11 on my essay i bubbled I am 100% sure of that as my score sheet says I did not put in 4 answers when in am 100% sure i filled everything in.

My GPA, last year more than this year, also sucks. That being said i did 3 APs last year and i am taking 4 this year and I am at an extremely though school so hopefully they will understand that and put in in context of my school. Before I came to this school i had straight 7s in the IB - expect for Chem SL where i had a 5 - i freaking hated chem. (I repeated a year). Will my GPA kill me ?

Based on that last post, it appears that you have very strong chances.

Thanks, I hope your right. Who knows, hopefully we could possibly be roommates ! You by the way are almost certainly getting in. Good luck !

Hell, I’d love to room with a kid that’s already written his own derivative. You’re ahead of the curve in an applicant pool that is already way ahead of the curve. (No pun on the “Wharton Curve” intended!)
