Applying ED. Asian male (not international) with no financial aid.

You have a pretty good shot at RD. I am wondering if you have too many commitments though - this may negatively impact you.

Most of them are pretty focused on history/english. Do you still think it would negatively impact me if they are focused?

Well once you put it that way that makes sense
Oh wait, ED? Pretty sure you are getting in if you keep up the good work.

Lots of good ECs, make sure to write good essays however since you need good essays to communicate the effectiveness of your ECs

thanks bumppoo

You have too many ECs. Don’t list all of them on your application or it will negatively impact you. Think about it, let’s say all of the ones you “lead” require 5 hours a week:

• Milton Paper (senior editor)
• Asian Paper (editor in chief)
• Asian Society (managing)
• Investment Club (head)
• Key club (head/founder)
• Student Tutor (head)

That’s thirty hours a week, and that is a low ball estimate. If you spend less than 5 hours a week and you “lead” the club, then it’s most likely just a resume booster and you shouldn’t list it anyway. This is not including your online business, wrestling, school itself or family obligations that you might have. Not to mention the clubs you’re in that you don’t lead.

Too many ECs. You have a good chance though. Just refine your application and you should have a great chance. Just my $.02.

I think for his case it would be fine if he demonstrates that he demonstrates passion in his essay - not just doing things because he can but because he likes to and he wants to (they also kind of have a common theme?). And explain, “why Cornell” well enough.
