I teach elementary school impoverished kids basic financial management and basic economics

I want to study business/economics. I’m looking at T20s primarily Ivies (Penn, Princeton, Dartmouth mainly), UChicago, Northwestern, Also Berkeley, Georgetown, and Michigan, Michigan got a serious legacy (4 generations) and a family member who has donated serious $ and will write a letter, I haven’t really decided my safeties, but Michigan is a relatively safe bet (I think?)

Hope this covers it all (its a lot), anything helps really, and id be so grateful if someone gives a few suggestions. Thx a lot

Your ACT is exceptionally high (pretty much perfect). Your GPA is also competitive, tho UW GPA is probably too low for Princeton.
Better chance at Dartmouth I think.
I don’t know about other colleges, but UC Berkeley is easily an acceptance, and you’ll probably get high merit scholarships with that ACT.

Your Debate 3 time qualification, position as captain of varsity baseball, and tutoring children will look very good on your application as well. Make sure to main them senior year.

Oh, I just checked. Princeton doesn’t count freshmen year grades, so recalculate your UW w/ only 10-11 grades.

The GPA for Cal would be calculated differently since OOS Honors do not get the extra GPA weighting. Only AP/IB/DE get the extra GPA weighting.

Another question is whether Berkeley is financially viable for you at 65,000 a year. You should add some safety schools because none of the schools on your list are matches.

Most of the schools on your list are high reaches. Additionally the schools on your list represent a wide range of attributes and vibes…which makes me think you haven’t really assessed the fit, but instead are focused on prestige. For example - NU and Chicago typically don’t attract the same student, nor do Penn and Dartmouth.

Do some research. Add some matches (more matches than reaches) and safeties (safeties have to be financially viable too). Don’t focus on rankings. Michigan is likely not a safety even with your family’s history there, it’s probably more of a match (without knowing more details)

For Georgetown your 3 subject test scores are fine. I would also encourage you to take physics senior year…your application will be stronger with it. Good luck.

Berkeley is also not ‘easily an acceptance.’

For match high/match schools, add BU/NYU. Better chances there than for the schools on your list.

@Hamurtle Oh shoot, I didn’t realize he weighted honors. Yea, at Cal most honors are not weighted.

@Hammad80 the gpa for10-11 would come out to a 4.4w and a 3.7uw
