Dear joux : Your SAT scores are certainly in range and if you were considering a potential shot at the Honors Program, you will need to pick up about 100 points in the combined mathematics/critical reading combination. Your GPA at 3.6 is usually not top 10% material and your AP load leading into senior year is one or two courses short of your competition. For senior year, we should expect to see an AP exam in mathematics (calculus), science, and a social science (history, economics or similar) to maintain the competitive level of your profile against the applicant group. (Which specialized high school in NYC has you attended [Bronx HS of Science or similar]? Most offer deep AP programs.)

Given your NYC background, NYU is an interesting match although might be “more of the same” compared to what you have already experienced in terms of city life. Be sure to visit Vassar before deciding to apply as the campus life is very different (arts oriented) than what your background demonstrates. Villanova is an interesting match with your profile. Boston College is a stretch although not completely out of line. I would expect admission from George Washington and Boston University for sure.
