ACT is alright, GPA is alright, ECs are alright. You don’t have a spectacular shot, but you do have a shot. I’d say 50/50?

i’d agree, you probably aren’t a clear case where you have a “good shot,” but your stats are there, it all depends on your recs/essays. did you apply to medill with your editing/writing experience?

i think a waitlist???

Interesting profile. Strong chance if you apply ED. Probably 60% chance RD.

Nah. Given the application surge this year due to common app, stay pessimistic. I mean, if UChicago’s acceptance rate can lower from 40% to 27% with their uncommon app…

but… the common app isn’t new this year. do you really think there’s a huge surge in applicants? I’m doubtful that there’s a spectacular increase.

Also, where’d you find the info on U chicago’s acceptance rate?

There IS a huge surge in applicants. Check the NW website, I believe they released that information themselves. And check the UChicago forum for their admission rates.

I see. I wonder why this year, in particular, there is such a surge? I’m going to go look it up. Thank you guys!

and good luck OP!

We’re the biggest graduating class in history?

I actually think you may have a reasonable chance. Being a girl from Tennesse will help. And you expressed a genuine interest in Philosophy in your essay (though perhaps at the risk of seeming to be trying too hard to be intellectual?). Depends on your recomendations, honestly. It’s a reach for sure, but you definitely have the possibility.
