Chances?

You’re in. Recruited varsity athletes with academics & ECs like yours are a shoo-in.

Damn son. You have a great 5k time! You have a great shot. Be sure to nail the Common App essay. Good luck!

your in man…your in…congratulations

I wouldn’t listen to people that say you’re in. No one has a 100% chance…people like yourself are waitlisted/rejected all the time. I doubt anyone ever has a better than 50% chance of getting in.

You should repost this under “Athletic Recruits” under Specialty College Admissions topics. There are many seasoned posters who will be able to give you wonderful insight You have great timings and good academic stats and if you want to run in college you should definitely go the route of Athletic Recruiting which has different timelines and rules and advantages.

well @marcdvl…this guy has amazing athletic achievements…can probably represent washU…and has super stats…not a lot of people could combine all of these areas…and people on collegeconfidential overemphasize the importance of SAT/ACT scores…while colleges like washu do look at these things, they would not over look the credentials of such a person…he is above average given his stats in both athletics and academics and therefore has a MUCH better chance at washU than an ordinary applicant

How much will visiting wash U up my chances? I’ve just set up a visit with the school and the XC team, the coach said that visits increase your chances tremendously since Wash U he said tends to recieve a lot of good applicants but then loses a lot of them to other competitive schools so they want those that are more likely to attend.

You have an amazing shot.

You have a pretty good shot, I would definitely try and visit. First, it does tell the admissions office that you are interested in attending, and also to make sure the team is a good fit for you. All of the runners I know are great people, always having fun, but from what I know of Stiles, while he is a very good coach, he can be very authoritarian in some respects. So it would also do to meet in person with him, to be sure that you gel with the guy who is going to be coaching you for the next 4 years.
