as for showing interest, I’ve emailed the admissions office like 5 times. i attended a local reception back in September that had an admissions counselor.

i would say low chances.

Thanks but what weakness do you spot other than gpa/rank

i mean, generally speaking both of those and ACT are probably like 60-80 percent of your profile… maybe more or less. Emory’s average ACT falls at 30-33, so your at the bottom of the scale. it’ll depend. i know RD will have a very low acceptance rate this year. good luck though!! you never know.

I dont know how much this will mean coming from me (I’m a HS senior… I’m actually applying to Emory also  ) but I think you have great chances, though the GPA IS a little on the low side

I think most of these people probably missed that you are an African-American immigrant. That’s huge. Increases your chances a lot.

I was recently accepted to Emory U. ED. I can say that you have many advantages and outstanding aspects that are stronger than my application. I would advise you to apply ED2 if you truly wish to attend Emory (unless it’s to late now). Obviously this will show your dedication. Your ACT and GPA is a little on the low side, and I have to say your AP scores are below par. However, your extracurricular activities and course rigor should help to strengthen your application. Make sure your Essays are the best papers you have ever written, and emphasize the major parts of the strengths you listed above and you should have a decent chance. If your contemplating whether to apply or not, I would say you should definitely apply if you are interested in attending.

I think you are a competitive applicant. Good luck to you.

i didn’t miss the fact that he’s an african immigrant. i know many URM’s of similar stats who were rejected. I wouldn’t say URM’s can have lower stats and get in–esp not at Emory. A lot of URM’s (myself included) have stats similar to other ethnic groups.

UPDATE: I got waitlisted at Oxford and rejected at Emory college of arts and sciences. I just finished my last year at Cornell and I love it here.

Stay in LA, bro.
