Chance a sophomore for TASP/RSI/WTP?

I can add anything if you need it. I might get a biology research internship this summer, which would probably help a bit too. :D

If it also works out, I can take a Biotechnology class at my school in junior year as well, instead of Spanish.

Thanks!

as far as tasp goes it doesnt matter about stats
but i can say that from the looks of it you’re just trying to go to the best summer programs cause it’ll look good for college, so that’ll probably hurt you for tasp

never heard of wtp

I got my man Nate on this one.

TASP could care less about your stats (which I couldnt see because the link was bad)

Your motive is to have one of these programs on your resume to look better and nobody can fault you for that. However, realize that these programs require passion as much as they do your PSAT scores. Dont drop a language for a Bio class, afterall it will look better if you take 4 years of a language, for many of the big schools its actually required. Do what your passionate for.

Good Luck

I too have got my boys Nate and Corey.

TASP is meant for kids who really really care about humanities: history, politics, writing, etc. You’ll be miserable spending a summer with people who care a whole lot more about the Tudor dynasty than your average HS student.

All of us (in theory anyway) on the TASP thread have applied for the experience, not the resume boost.

I have to agree with Nate, Corey, and iris.

I applied to TASP because I thought it would look good on my application. I didn’t have heartfelt essays and I really didn’t know what TASP was at the time. After finding the thread on it, I completely changed my mind. As iris said, TASP is for the experience, not the resume boost. I didn’t even get an interview but I don’t regret applying. Afterall, I wouldn’t have these great friends if it weren’t for TASP.

Good luck with everything but you must beware. Don’t post in both the RSI and the TASP thread. They have a friendly competition going.

“Don’t post in both the RSI and the TASP thread. They have a friendly competition going.”

True that. We need to raid them after acceptance letters arrive. >D

Haha I disagree with the TASP gang above ^^ First of all someone said “don’t drop Spanish for Biotech because colleges like to see 4 years of foreign language”. Personally I and everyone I know starts foreign language in 7th grade so I dropped my foreign language in junior year and I have 4 years. Also, OP is lucky to have a biotech class in his school, and I think that if he is interested in the class there are good reasons for him to take it that apply to research programs (familiarize with standard lab procedures)

I would discourage you from applying to TASP and RSI and WTP. First of all, the TASP form requires lots of effort and time, and so does the RSI one. TASP is humanities and RSI is research. Which is your forte or passion? I don’t know anyone who has been accepted to both programs. Getting a bio internship would be a good idea for you if you want to research bio at RSI because almost all RSI kids who do bio have had previous lab experience.

OP, I can’t see your stats. Remember that depending on where you live, the same stats could be considered godly or poop.

BTW: RSI>>TASP.
