<p>Hi everyone, I’m new to this site and I’d like to utilize it’s networking capabilities. I’m interested in what you think about my chances of getting into schools on my list. Please note that I am not a superstar, but rather an above average student who worked hard in high school to achieve a balanced resume. My stats are:</p>

<p>ACT </p>

<p>Composite: 30</p>

<p>E: 31
M: 30
R: 29
S: 29</p>

<p>GPA - UW: 3.93, W: 4.12</p>

<p>My school doesn’t offer AP classes, but I’ve taken every honors course offered. </p>

<p>My school doesn’t rank, but I’d estimate that I’m in the top ten percent</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:</p>

<p>Surgical Internship at local hospital - Shadowed a surgeon for 7 hours/week during the spring semester of my junior year. Scrubbed up, Observed over 20 operations. Designed a trifold pamphlet discussing colon cancer prevention.</p>

<p>My essay is based off of the first operation I witnessed. </p>

<p>Varsity Golf - The sports program at my school is funded by the students. I started the Varsity Golf Team my freshman year and got us into competitive matches my sophomore year. I’ve spent countless hours organizing practice and match schedules, coordinating with players and their parents, and doing everything else that comes with running a varsity team. 3 year Varsity Captain, 3 year Team MVP</p>

<p>Religious Education - I teach a freshman religious education class at my local church. The curriculum stresses good decision making, and I integrate morality into the lessons. For the past two years, we’ve held a Christmas party for less fortunate families.</p>

<p>As I said, I’m an above average student. I don’t have any awards to boast about, but I am Hispanic. Hopefully this helps in my college admissions process.</p>

<p>Your GPA is good and your extra curriculars are amazing and really give you some life as just another piece of paper, however your ACT scores weigh you down. I think if you’re lucky some admisison officers may be able to see past that due to your great SAT II scores. It’s really hard to guess for great universities such as Chicago, Notre Dame, and Brown because they recieve so many competitive applications each year that a lot of the time it’s just up to luck of the draw. Best of luck though.</p>
