<p>Hey, I’m an international student and currently doing the IB program. I’m half American and half Maltese. I live in Malta, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, and I can assure you that no one in my country has gone to any good schools in the states. </p>

<p>My school doesn’t have GPA or report cards; most schools in Europe don’t, they just train you for the exam at the end of the course. My IGCSE scores are weak. I only took five because I thought I was going to move to America, and I thought I didn’t need them anymore. My parents are divorced and at the last minute my mother changed her mind, and by then I had already taken them.</p>

<p>My IGCSE marks are as followed:

  1. Mathematics Extended - B
  2. English Language - B
  3. Combined Science - C
  4. IT - C
  5. Art - D</p>

<p>My IB predicted marks: 38 (+3 points for EE and TOK)
The classes I took are as followed: (all marks are out of 7)

  1. English HL - 6
  2. Philosophy HL - 6
  3. Business and Management - 6
  4. Environmental Studies and Systems - 6
  5. Mathematics Studies - 7
  6. Italian ab initio - 4 (I suck at foreign languages)</p>

<p>SAT I score: 2050
SAT II:
Mathematics Level 2 - 700
World History - 720</p>

<p>AP classes:
English Language and composition - 4
Calculus ab - 4</p>

<p>ECs:

  1. Fencing (1st for under 13s and 3rd for men’s in the country)
  2. Public speaking and debating Club
  3. Young Enterprise (make your own company and compete with other schools)
  4. Sailing club
  5. Trap shooting</p>

<p>Essay:
Most defiantly great, especially for Cornell and Bowdoin were I talked about how I want to follow my grand fathers footsteps, be the fourth generation and be the first Maltese to go to a top liberal art school and a ivy… Blah blah blah.</p>

<p>I tried to make up for my poor IGCSE marks. I’m applying to a lot of schools because I’m really scared that I won’t get in anywhere. Hopefully you guys can reinsure me that I will get accepted to atleast one of the schools above. And I know Cornell and Bowdoin are long shots, but I might as well apply. </p>

<p>I’m sorry, but I disagree. All of your schools most definitely go higher by 1 looking at your IB subjects. Yes, your predicted is great, but you have no substantial proof that you are capable at math. Math studies isn’t regarded a subject in the US and your extended math score is a B and you’re applying for Business related subjects. Goodluck though.</p>

<p>A score of 4 in SL is actually better than a score of 7 in studies. I know people in my school that are happy with 3 in SL over 7 in studies; but I personally think a 4 is the perfect score. With a 700 in Math level 2, I don’t understand what would hold you back from SL anyway. </p>

<p>Business Management and Environmental studies are considered RELATIVELY weak subjects too. There are barely 5 people in my school that take those subjects. You should have taken one of the natural sciences, and economics; those would help you a lot more.</p>

<p>What I did know was that a 6 on Math HL would supersede a 7 on Math SL…</p>

<p>A high match carries significant risks of rejection, so don’t confuse one definition of a high match with the other.</p>

<p>I forgot to add, I also took AP psychology - 4.</p>

<p>I was in Math SL, but the work load was crazy. I couldn’t keep up with all the other studies I had to do, so I dropped so I could put more attention on APs, SATs and subject tests. I contacted all of the schools under the Entreprenuership category, and they said Math Studies is fine. </p>

<p>I took the AP and subject tests to try give them some solid grades. But, I can’t see how I don’t have a good chance at getting in any of those schools. I mean, how can’t I get into UCSB, my dog can get accepted. </p>

<p>Should I try get an interview with some of the schools. I’m quite a lively person (well, I like to think so) and I can defiantly hold up a conversation.</p>
