Chance and Essay advice?

Applying SCEA
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2240
ACT: 34
SAT II: 800, 770, 770
Rank: 2/500
Low income, middle eastern

EC: LOTS of music and bands (Marching Band Drum Major, 1st Chair, etc). Founder and president of a community outreach/service club, president of quiz bowl, leadership in other service clubs.

My question is about the essays. I want to write my common app essay about my upbringing and its effect on my personality, but what can I write my yale sup essay about (if its supposed to be about me, not an activity)? Also, is there a chance for me to elaborate on the importance of band in shaping my life or my reasons for starting my service club?

I feel like there’s a lot of me that I’m not sure how to put into words, anyone have any advice for brainstorming essay ideas/writing them?
Thanks :D

I believe there is still a place to write about your love for bands in the activities section of the common app. It’s around 250 words which should plenty for you to talk about involvement in a clever, succinct way. As for your supplement, write about something completely different, something not in another part of your application. You want to show as many facets of yourself as possible.

Thanks for responding. It’s going to be difficult thinking of unique topics/ways of presenting myself :/
