<p>Marching Band - Commander and i play the Bugle</p>

<p>Journalism - Junior Editor of the Magazine</p>

<p>Computer Club - Vice President, Big Budget , organized a national level event
Rated the best student of the School in all aspects, won a special award which is rarely given to anyone in school.</p>

<p>I got deferred from Brown and the PLME.</p>

<p>Do you need financial aid? You have a lot of ‘reach’ schools here - schools to which every Indian with good grades and test scores is applying in the hopes of getting financial aid. The fact that you were deferred from Brown means you are probably unlikely to get into Harvard and Princeton, which are even more selective. (Your writing score is weak, unfortunately.) The fact that you appear to be pre-med will also not help because, again, that is a common choice among Indian students and doesn’t differentiate you.</p>

<p>Perhaps you ought to consider some of the highly regarded but less selective LACs and universities that provide generous financial aid in order to increase the level of diversity in their student bodies. Rice in Houston, TX would be one. Grinnell and Macalester (LACs like Williams) would be two others.</p>

<p>Just to clarify further, any highly regarded school (for arguments sake, let’s say the top 30 LACs and the top 30 universities) will have good quality chem, bio and physics departments all of which will provide adequate preparation for medical school. It isn’t necessary to attend a brand name undergraduate school since medical schools look primarily at your MCAT scores, your GPA and your class rank.</p>

<p>Thanx… I know that i have a lot of reach schools and thats because i need financial aid so im applying to all schools that are need blind for internationals … another thing is that my parents only want me to go to the US if i go to a really good college since i have a good chance of getting thru med school right after high school (the system is different here) … i think i got deferred from brown because i ticked that i dont want to attend brown ED if i dont get into the PLME … But then i have no idea reallly … Thanx for your time and advice! :slight_smile: …</p>
