CHANCE AT SCHOOLS SUCH AS: UNC, Duke, Vanderbilt, UChicago, Any ivies, UVA, also I would like suggestions please. And leave me with the worst case scenario at a 1730 SAT.

Thank you, so much!

It definitely helps to come from North Carolina when it comes to admissions. Your GPA is rock solid, and your rigor is there for sure. I also dig the EC 300 hours of volunteer work, that’ll certainly set you apart. You’re obviously a lock for UNC, very likely UVA, and Vandy’s certainly in reach. If you can get your SAT to break 2000, then Cornell and Duke become in reach. UChicago’s a little tricky to predict because they place so much emphasis on the writing aspect, so I can only say it’s a reach because I don’t know how well you write.

Worst case with a 1730 is that you go to Chapel Hill and enjoy what is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful and prestigious public schools in the country.

If you’re interested in prestigious Southern schools, I’d also suggest you take a look at Emory. I thought it would be just another safety school, but I was thoroughly impressed by it- you might be surprised, too.

In all honesty, your stats look pretty good for UNC. For Duke and Vanderbilt, you might want to try improving your SAT and maybe try the ACT instead
Also UChicago is probably a reach but if you can find a way to stand out (either in your essay or EC’s or something) it is definitely attainable.

Good luck!

If you can break the 2000 mark on the SAT, your chances will definitely improve. Everything else looks pretty good. Building up notable ECs would help too. Being African American is definitely a benefit as many colleges aim for diversity. Use this to your advantage because it distinguishes you from the majority of other applicants. Best of luck!

You will be a match for many of the schools listed if you can raise your test scores. If not, ivies are out of the question.
