Chance at Cornell or Brown?

Weighted GPA: 5.1
Unweighted GPA: 3.999
SAT I: 780M/750R/690W
SAT II: Took Chem and Math II in June (Think high for Math II/above average for Chem)
Class Rank: 7/200

Course Load: Have taken all AP’s my school offers with the exception of Honors Biology and Honors Spanish IV, Have replaced Junior English requirement with English 151 and 200 at Ohio University
Senior Schedule: At High School: AP Calculus, something (hopefully of academic merit) to give me another credit. At Ohio University: Phys 201, Eng 202 (Critical Approaches to Poetry), and Hist 121 (Classical Western Civs)
EC’s: Track (good Varsity), Golf (average Varsity), Basketball (fresh and soph only), NHS, Mock Trial? (next year maybe)

Hope to be admitted into engineering or chemistry programs at either university. How are my chances?

Your ECs aren’t spectacular, but your dual enrollment is rather intriguing. Are you with the Early Entrance program at Ohio State, or is it Ohio University?
Your SAT is good, and I imagine that your SAT IIs will come back very nice, so I think that you have a great shot at both Cornell and Brown, with great essays and recs of course. On an unrelated note, does Phys stand for Physics, or Physiology (I assume physics because you will need physics to get into an engineering program).

Phys indeed stands for Physics, and I take classes at Ohio University in Athens, OH, not OSU in Columbus. Thank you for your reply.

Are my stats good enough to even bother applying to MIT or would it be a waste of the application fee?

Definitely worth the fee. While you aren’t guaranteed admission, you have pretty good stats. IDK if they will accept you straight away, but you could be waitlisted, then accepted. I would apply and hope for the best!

Consider also RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). It has amazing engineering programs and is less selective than MIT. I think you would definitely get in and get a nice scholarship!
