ACT: 29
taking it again this sunday. I’m aiming for a 31. I know I can get there. I just need to push myself.

AP:
10: AP humanities (AP world history, honors english 10)
11: AP humanities (AP us history, ap english language 11), Pre Calc H (counts as AP), AP Physics (but only for one semester, definitely wasn’t my subject.)

question: do colleges take into account the background of your school?

(school background: Torrey Pines has a reputation for being an “academic powerhouse.” In 2005, Torrey Pines was ranked as one of the 100 Best High Schools in the nation by Newsweek magazine. Torrey Pines offers thirty Advanced Placement courses and had a 2006-2007 API score of 852, the highest of any high school in San Diego county. Torrey Pines is well known for AP advanced students.)

also, how much will my GPA affect my ability to get in college? Will it weigh me down?

Thanks so much! :)

What’s your class rank?

The problem is that your test scores are just way below what one would expect for a student admitted to NYU.

I would say low reach, try to get your SAT up. It also depends on which school within NYU you are applying to. Applications for Stern are looked upon differently than applications for Tisch.

Be sure to check out NYU’s new standardized testing policy.

ACT is solid, but still on the low end. I suggest not submitting your SAT score. Get GPA up to a 3.6 or so and I’d say Match/High Match. Otherwise, it’s a Reach.

I’m confused about how Pre-Calc can count as AP. Can you elaborate please?

I honestly have no idea what my rank is
thanks (:
I’ll work to get them higher.

oh I’m definitely not submitting it. I’m not even retaking it. Not my test at all (:

will do! thanks for the suggestion!

“I’m confused about how Pre-Calc can count as AP. Can you elaborate please?”

it weighs as an AP class for my GPA. so if I were to get a B in that class, then for my weighted GPA it would count as an A. It’s like taking an AP class only it doesn’t have “AP” in its name. Hope that makes sense
