Hi, i have a 3.05 GPA a 1950 SAT and a 28 on my ACT
i have just been deferred from UMass Amherst, and Accepted into a different campus of University of Pittsuburgh. I have sent out applications to University of Delaware, Rutgers, UConn, Penn State, and University of Georgia.
I was wondering what are my chances at getting into any of these other schools, seeing as thought i have been deferred from my safety of UMass Amherst.
and possibly what safety schools i should be looking into.
i’m planning on majoring in hospitality and hotel management.

Honestly, I don’t see you getting into any of those schools. You might get into a Rutgers or Penn State branch campus, but I don’t see you getting into either main campus with those grades.

Considering you seem to want the big school, here are some ideas that would be closer to matches than safeties, but still are some options you might want to consider:
1)University of Tennessee

2)University of South Carolina

3)University of Kentucky

Possible Safeties:
WVU
University of Louisville
University of Cincinnati
Temple

Others to check into are Purdue, UNLV, Texas Tech, Alabama, and Oklahoma State. Best of luck!

anybody else?

to the top

Michigan State, University of New Hampshire, Pace University, syracuse

ARE U FAMILIAR WITH THE SUNY’S ALBANY, BUFFALO, AND IF U GET LUCKY Binghamton good luck!

UDel is a match. Or maybe a high match due to your GPA.

check SUNY’s, i wouldnt try Syracuse. I know people who love SUNY Oswego.

gpa too low for uconn if you are out of state.

to Omniscient1

he brother had lower gpa/ lower sat oos and he got in.

(same gpa scale as OP)

I’m not sure how in-state compares to OOS, or how your high school compares to ours, but according to a scattergram I viewed, all the kids at our (in-state) high school with your statistics were accepted at Rutgers (New Brunswick). Your SAT scores are fine. Hopefully your grades show an improving trend, and not the opposite.

a few more please?

Might check out: U East Carolina, U of Central Florida, U of of Southern Florida, Florida State, Temple

they get 8,000 to 10,000 oos apps every year and have only 1000 spots available for oos students… I repeat my earlier statement… your gpa is too low.

If you are from NJ with that gpa, and applying to a business program, chances for UConn are very slim. They get tons of apps. from NJ. I absolutely agree with Omniscient. My guess is that you are waitlisted at UConn.

anybody else please
