chance at university of texas-austin

what's my chance at texas-austin in their business school?
GPA: 3.92w 3.7 uw
SAT I: 660m, 590v, 640w (1890)
class rank: 7%
EC: 2 varsity sports, few clubs
race: asian
resident: virginia (OOS)
7 AP/AICE (British Cambridge program) courses by the end of the year

AT UT it is very difficult for a OOS to get admitted. I would definitely have a back up plan.

I'd say, as an out-of-state student, it's...well...difficult to say the least. I think the average rank of people in the Mccombs busniess school is somewhere around the top 2%.

how about going around little bit?
go to other major school, like art and science school, then transfer within the school?

I heard it's just as hard to get in through means of transfering schools.

Not to sound negative, your chances are slim.

The business school is notorious for being incredibly difficult to gain admission to. In-state students who are in the top 10% are automatically admitted to UT-Austin, but to have a fair chance at being admitted to the business school you almost have to be in the top 2 or 3% of your high school class...and that's for in-state kids. A lot of kids start out in a different school, say the school of communications, and then try to transfer into the business school but that is also really difficult to do successfully. UT-Austin is a great school though, and Austin is without a doubt one of the coolest cities to live in, so go ahead and apply and if you don't get into the business school still consider attending if accepted.

I do know quite a few people who transferred in later, but I suppose the competition isn't any easier. I guess you'll really need very solid GPA etc. to do that~~
