I want to study engineering or medicine at yale.

You have a decent chance, low reach at yale?

I would say that if you did ED, then you would have no problem getting in with good essays and solid recommendations! Chance another desi? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592997-help-help-potential-nyu-stern-applicant.html

You have a good chance. However, I don’t think Yale can be called a “low reach” for anybody, and it certainly can’t be said that you’ll have “no problem” getting in. (Yale doesn’t have ED, by the way; it has SCEA.) Yale rejects highly qualified candidates every year, as do Harvard, Princeton, and others. A student with your qualifications can definitely aspire to get into a highly selective school, but you can’t depend on getting into any specific one. As always, you need to have a reasonable list of schools with reaches (like Yale), matches, and safeties. With your stats, you can afford to use some very good schools as your safety. Maybe UT?

I agree with Hunt, no one can guarentee an IVy acceptance considering it’s very hard to nail down what exactly they look for every year. I think you should use UT Engineering as a safety, considering with your scores you can probably get into that program.
