Chance for Berkeley and UCLA please, OOS Will chance back

@blargenshmargen‌ chance me please?

That Indian singer thing doesn’t make you stand out. Berkeley has a very large Asian-Indian population with higher scores and National awards. Also, can you afford $55K x4 years? You will be full pay all 4 years.

@auntbea‌ yes i can pay. and the fact that I have done singing doesn’t make me stand out. its my level of involvement in it that does. chance me please

Berkeley and LA will be tough because those schools are ultra competitive for everyone. They get over 100K applications of qualified individuals. You not only are competing with OOS students, but you are also competing with in-state students who have been told how to prepare for the UC’s. They are athletes, they work in part time jobs and they juggle their academics and achieve SAT scores over 2300’s. That’s why it will be tough. Your GPA has to be as perfect as possible.

If your’e applying for engineering then your subject test scores and AP grades might hurt a little. EC’s are good but the UC system always favors stats over EC’s
Berkley- Reach
UCLA-Low Reach/High Match
If not applying to Engineering tone the above predictions down a notch.

Just saw that you are a physics major, then that Physics sub test will definitely hurt even if you can show passion aptitude trumps passion any day of the week

You’re solid all around and the UCs are starting to accept more out of staters so that’s good. Sadly, from my knowledge, UCB and UCLA are almost random. In my opinion (which isn’t much of one) you should get accpted, but should doesn’t mean much in this world. To me it seems solidly possible. I mean your extracurriculars are incredible. Well done.

Sorry, forgot. I would say low match.

Berkely - Reach (Everyone is at Berkely)
UCLA- High Match

You are very competivtive at both, but both are very very good schools.

@currywiththeflop‌ the royal conservatory is nothing like that, it is an international exam. I achieved honors standing in performance, and first class honors in theory. Its Canadian.

UCLA - match (I would be surprised if you didn’t get in)
Berkeley - high match/low reach (I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in)

I think you have solid chances you have strong academics and a solid ACT score. I would say:
UCLA- Match
UCB- Low reach/reach

I posted mine

Ummm, I guess you are in even if you are OOS. Many of my frnds got in with lower scores. Best of luck! Chancee Me plsss http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1738791-chance-me-for-chemical-engineering-will-chance-you-back.html#latest

UCLA- high match/ low reach; slightly leaning toward the former
Berk- Low reach

As the previous person mentioned, ucla and ucb l&s acceptances are pretty much comparable, so chances are similar. I don’t think your subject tests are as important as people said above; the only majors that place heavy weight on math and science subjects test are engineering majors. All the other majors, not so much. If you noticed on the UCLA/UCB stats page, their UW and Weighted GPA are insanely high, while SAT’s are ~2150 (upper percentile of letters and science). So no, you don’t need a 2300 like @auntbea is suggesting; such a score is only needed for HYSPM if you go based on academics alone. Your GPA, which is crucial, could be higher.

@alexphan202020‌ is a 34 act sufficient

@ShowMeState700 For la and berkeley l&s, a 34 would put you around the 60ish percentile for the standardized test aspect of your application, which is definitely where you want to be in that department.

UCLA: Match
UCB: High Match
Very strong application for UCs I think and that will make you very competitive there. Very probably you’ll get in.

@alexphan202020 where did you get your expertise? Did you get into UCLA? Or Berkeley? My kid and a number of my former students did get into these schools, but they had high SAT scores. Do you have personal experience with these admissions stats?

These schools are COMPETITIVE which means you need high scores to almost guarantee admissions.
