<p>Well I know this isn’t very specific, but I’d really like to attend a big-name school, such as Yale or Stanford, but I highly doubt I’m able to do so. So if not, what kind of schools should I be looking at? </p>

<p>Your SAT should be at around 2280 to be competitive for top schools in the nation like Princeton, Harvard, Yale, etc. </p>
<p>As for your GPA, just make sure you get all A’s for the rest of high school. </p>
<p>Now for course load, I take it that you’re doing the full IB diploma? That’s good. Make sure you choose hard IB classes within that diploma as well. There is a different between taking IB SL and IB HL classes. College WILL consider the rigor of your courses. </p>
<p>After you have set your GPA and standardized test scores, you have to do something more. Everyone applying to Ivy leagues has a very high gpa and SAT/ACT. Therefore, do something with music if that’s your passion. Winning competitions, playing for the homeless, starting funds for children who can’t afford music instruments but are talented, etc. That should all be intrinsically motivated though. Don’t just do it for college. That’s just not right. </p>
<p>TL;DR- You’re still not even in Junior year yet. No one can say whether you have a shot at a top ten school yet, but you are not off track. You still have Junior year to make significant impact to your transcript.</p>
