Chance for Early Decision and advice?

<p>I am not sure if Early is the right decision. I’m 100% sure this is where I want to go, but do they take into account Senior year courses with early decision?

Location: New York State
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
School Type: Public, sends many grads to top schools
Applying to: CAS</p>

<p>Stats:
GPA: 3.79 uw
SAT: 1350/2060 (730 math 620 reading 710 writing)
SAT IIs: 730 Math Level 1, 730 Spanish</p>

<p>Extracurriculars/Volunteer/Work Experience:

  1. Nanny for a 2 and 4 year old (Grade 9-12)
  2. Math Team co-captain
  3. President and Founder of Chinese Language and Culture Club
  4. Vice President of Strong Women in Society Club
  5. Tiddlywinks Club President (I’m not even kidding. Easily the best club of all time. We have interscholastic matches and everything.)
  6. Varsity swimmer and year round club swimmer (grades 7-9, hurt my shoulders and had to stop)
  7. Freshman student advisor (Grades 11-12)
  8. Varsity Lacrosse player (Grades 10-12)
  9. Varsity Ice hockey player (Grade 10 - once again, got hurt)
  10. T.A. in Honors Algebra 2 senior year
  11. Took Chinese Calligraphy lessons with a local “guru” and was his apprentice this summer. I got really into painting and doing chinese calligraphy art. </p>

<p>-I have taken Mandarin for 2 years, going on 3. I speak pretty decent Chinese haha. It’s awesome. I will definitely tie this experience in on my essays
-I have always opted for all honors courses throughout high school.</p>

Essays: Will be super unique and a bit quirky. I’m almost done with them.
Teachers Recs: Will be from two teachers who really believe in me and have a record of writing incredible recs
Guidance Counselor Rec: She digs me and knows me really well. It’ll be good.</p>

<p>Your course load doesn’t look too difficult, and Math level 1 really doesn’t count for anything. </p>

<p>I think NYU is a match ED, and the admissions committee does in fact look at Senior grades and course load very closely.</p>

<p>If you need financial aid, NYU is notorious for gapping EFC. But if NYU is your dream school, you don’t care about comparing FA offers from other schools, and you’re prepared say “Thanks but no thanks” if NYU’s FA offer is insufficient to allow attendance, then go for it. But as a match, think of it as a 50/50 chance, so don’t be surprised either way.</p>
