What are his extracurriculars, does he have any hooks? Is he being recruited for Emory or Rice?
Emory- High Reach
Rice- Very High Reach
He would need a 1480 for Emory and a 1510 for Rice to be avg really to be competitive he would need higher; Unless he is being recruited. Emory is D3 so it might not be hard for him since he is the state champion. However, I’m confused why UMich isn’t you and your son’s first choice since that is instate($) and highly ranked.

The state tennis title is stellar, don’t get me wrong. I’m just trying to gain a broader sense of the applicant.
Depending on which state you are from, he could use tennis as a hook. FL or CA, yes. Emory just won the national championship so even though they are D3, the level of tennis is very high. I would say he should be at least a 4 star.
We don’t live in Michigan now. I grew up there and went there, but we live elsewhere now.
