My goal is to eventually become a sports agent, or something in that field. Now I’m not sure whether ILR or AEM is the best path for me?! I’ve done my research and there doesn’t seem to be a clear winner. Any Advice on this part is GREATLY appreciated.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I know these get really boring and I’m also aware cornell is an ivy so its unpredictable. Advice on which school is truly more important to me, I’m stuck!

bump, really need the advice. thanks guys

How’d you do on your AP tests? Assuming you passed all of them with a minimum of 4’s, you look like you could have about a 50-50 shot… Taking such an enormous course-load for your senior year may do more harm than good.

Are you applying ED?

Why do these programs interest you? Fit is going to be really crucial, and if writing is your weakness in the SAT scores, you better write a damn good essay.

For Sports Management, ILR is definitely the way to go. [Cornell ILR Sports Management Club](http://www.rso.cornell.edu/ilrsmc/home.php)

@WillHeMakeIt

only took world ap, got a 5. currently running an A+ in ush, A in Eng Lang, A in Stat… Expect to get 4s and 5s on those aps

Yes I will be applying ed

ILR is the best program in the world for what it is, and especially for what I want to do. AEM is consistently in the upper tier for a program of its sort, and I feel if my interests change I will be best suited in that program. Plus, being a NYS resident, tuition is significantly lower because these are both in land-grant schools.

I’m a good writer (A in AP Lang), that section on the January test kinda made me have a mental breakdown. I saw two questions in a row I was totally unsure of and it was downhill from there. I expect my March scores to be better.

That club looks great, but its open to all cornell students, not just those based out of ILR. What other pluses/minuses are there to both programs?

Don’t retake it. Since cornell doesn’t look at writing, a 1560/1600 looks impressive. Though you might do better on writing in the 2nd round, since cornell looks at all the SAT Is you have taken so far it might not be such a good idea (If your CR+M scores drop).
Otherwise, it looks pretty good.

Thanks antiflamer, I already took the march sat I’s and am currently waiting on the score.
I expect to get 770 for math, around the same for crit reading depending on the curve and atleast a 720 on writing. very anxious for those scores.

Anyone else have any insight into my majors problem?

ILR does look at SAT Writing but it analyzes it more like an SAT II subject test rather than a standard SAT.

ILR is better for Sports Management because the curriculum is more relevant: arbitration, collective bargaining, contract law, etc. Also there are many ILR alums in the field already, and ILR offers specific coursework in the field.

That’s not to say AEM isn’t an incredible program, or to say that you couldn’t go into the sports business from AEM.

I don’t think it will be particularly impressed with your summer camp experiences however, unless you can make them applicable somehow…

Camp has literally taught me more than school ever could. The life lessons and independence that camp has given me is remarkable. In that sense I think it would be a good essay topic because it defines who I am and the person I’ve grown to be.

I’m beginning to lean more towards ILR after looking at the base requirements for each program. You’re absolutely right on the ILR curriculum leaning more towards the sporting field as a whole.

Thanks for your input!
