GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2220
SAT II’s: 800 Biology, 800 Chemistry, 800 Math 2, 780 US History
AP’s: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus AB & BC, Computer Science, Statistics, Environmental Science, and 8 other social science AP’s (I took nearly every AP my school offered and I dual enrolled). 5’s on almost of all them.
EC’s: This is my weakest point and kills my chances, imo. I was dedicated, but I didn’t become president or win any state/national awards. I didn’t do any internships or summer programs nor did I participate in sports. I have lower level officer positions in National Art Honor Society, UNESCF Club, and Habitat for Humanity. Also a member of National Science Honor Society, Math team. I have close to 400 volunteer hours.
Awards: A few generic school “achievement” awards from science, math, and English teachers
Fluent in Spanish and Chinese
Class rank: top 10 (I go to a very competitive school)
I’m interested in robotics and computer science/engineering. I am a 2nd generation Hispanic female. But I don’t think this will help much given that there are plenty of equally or better qualified Hispanics and females interested in STEM.
I know I have the grades and the scores (I’m retaking the SAT), but I didn’t do anything spectacular or notable that will make me stand out from admissions officers at top schools. So, I guess my question is what schools should I apply to with great grades/test scores and mediocre EC’s?
