Hello - congrats on the excellent GPA and standardized test scores. You’re off to a great start.
There are a few things going against you, and I’m sure by now you probably already know what they are:
- Asian
- Very stereotypical ECs
I’m not saying that you won’t get in, but you’re really going to need some spectacular things in your application to set you apart from the sea of applicants who look exactly like you. Based upon what you wrote above, I don’t see much of anything that distinguishes you.
But don’t give up hope. Just keep working hard. Just make sure you apply to a wide range of schools. Don’t just shoot for the ultra selective. Apply to a bunch of middle tier and safety schools as well. This will give you some options in case you are shut out of the ivies.
You’re just as qualified as anybody, but these are still schools that accept less than 15% of applicants.
If your only submitting your ACT, then your test scores are fine. SAT is definitely too low for those schools mentioned (even though it is an incredible score).
Your problem is you need something to stand out, just as the person said above me. Without that something to stand out,your chances are going to be very limited. I know a lot of kids at my school who had unbelievable stats but had nothing unique and were unfortunately denied from most of their top choices.
These are all reaches for you, just like they are for nearly everyone else.
Have you considered adding some lower reaches, match schools, and at least one safety?
