Hello, I would like to know what my chances would be for a South Carolina resident applying to the following schools:

-Northeastern University
-Clemson (In-state)
-Tufts ( high reach, I know…)
-Boston University
-University of Rochester

Major: Biology (not-premed)

Objective:
• ACT: 31 (I did not study for this and could probably achieve a 32 or 33 composite when i retake. My science sub-score is a 34; hopefully that will help since I plan on majoring in Biology)

• Unweighted GPA: 3.1 (sigh) although, I don’t think my school will report my unweighted GPA

•Weighted GPA: 3.8 - 4.0 (AP’s and Honors are waited extremely heavily at my school)

• Rank: Top 20% I think

• AP: US History (4), European History (4), AP Stat (not taken yet), AP Literature (not taken yet)

• Honors: Almost all my other classes were honors

• IB: IB Biology 1 & 2 (Have not taken yet)

• Senior Year Course Load: AP English Literature, Honors US Gov, Honors Economics, IB Biology 1, IB Biology 2, AP Statistics,

• Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): N/A

• Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):
-3 Years of Marching Band on Drumline
- (My senior year I will be the center snare/ section leader)
- Auditioned and landed a spot in the regional band as a percussionist 3 years straight

Non School Related Extracurriculars:
- Played guitar in a band

• Job/Work Experience:
-Fixing computers every once in a while for cash

• Volunteer/Community service:
-Volunteered for Relay for Life event by performing music at the event

• Essays: Will be pretty good, I hope.
• Teacher Recommendation: Fairly strong from junior year Physics teacher
• Counselor Rec: Average. (My school is fairly large and the counselors do not know most of us)
• Additional Rec: N/a

• State: SC
• School Type: urban, very large public high school
• Ethnicity: Irish/Asian
• Gender: Male
• Income Bracket: 60k - 70k
• Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): first generation college, URM possibly (I haven’t met any other Irish Asians), drumline?

Massachusetts is the number one state I want to attend school in, so I hope being from SC helps boost my chances in their schools since South Carolinians don’t tend to apply there. My unweighted GPA is fairly low because I have trouble paying attention and doing work for subjects I don’t find interesting, but when I am interested in a subject I work extremely hard at it. I assume I will be better off in college when I can focus more on classes I want to take.
