Some connections to UNC, have at least 1 alumni writing reccomendation letter

Also applying to UT Austin and Penn State University Park.

PSU is a shoe in for you. You will probably be rejected from both UT and UNC. Those are almost impossible to get into out of state. Your Ec’s aren’t very good/unique. The alumni letter could help a little, but the best thing to do is to look at other schools that are more match schools. UNC and UT are going to be reaches for you based on you low ACT and Ecs.

Penn State is your safety. UNC and UT will be low reaches for you, since you’re OOS. You may have a better chance if you get your ACT up.
Good luck!

I have a 4.25 GPA, 32 on ACT, 1400 on SAT, Senior Class Pres, NHS Pres, Spanish Honor Societ VP, Varsity Baseball, plenty of service hours and extra curric, etc. BUT I’m OOS and therefore have been deferred.

Point is, it’s just flat out hard to get into UNC when you don’t live in NC. Bummer for us, huh?
