Chance for USC 2020: Marshall/Annenburg/A&S

  • white, female, nyc private school, no legacy, this is my number one school (I know it's a reach)
  • school only offers few AP's, I only missed out on one I could have taken
  • doesn't calculate GPA or do class rank

I would ideally like to be a double major in Marketing (Business School) and some form of Communications with a minor in Women’s Studies. What should I do to enhance my application?

bump?

@risingseniors I’m sorry to say that it looks like a definite reach. I’m only saying that because my D had a 2050 SAT and a 4.0 UW, 4.7 W GPA and she was told she was borderline. She did get in and is a freshman there now but we were sweating it! I still say to go for it because they definitely want well-rounded students and they rejected so many 4.0s and perfect SATs. My D says that everyone she meets is not just smart. They also have some amazing talent and aren’t just book smart.

sorry to tell you, but I do not think you can make it.

@stephrass thanks for your comment! just saw it now. my new SAT superscore is a 2050 and I just had my USC interview that went really well! I’ve met my admissions officer/applicatioin reader 3 times as well, so he knows me. I’m feeling more confident about my chances because I think my supplements and extracurriculars are solid. Also, 2 kids with similar files got in from my school last year- my school is a little different to read because we don’t have gpa or many aps (I’ve taken 3/4 available to me), the courses are really hard and nyc private schools are really competitive to begin with

I do know it is still a reach though! I’m not expecting anything, but I do think I’ve pulled together the best application I can

@risingseniors The 2050 definitely makes you more competitive so congratulations! Good luck to you…let me know if you make it in:)
