<p>Hello everyone, I would really appreciate if you could chance my brother, who’s a senior. I chance back. </p>

<p>He was accepted to MIT (EA) and loves the school. But he was already applying to HY. Before you read, he said he made a mistake on the Yale supplement and didn’t put the additional scores, but he sent all his scores through the College Board. Also, he didn’t put his school info/contact info on the Harvard Supplement. Both of these were careless mistakes, do you think they’d affect his chances? Also, would the lowered 2nd sitting score for the SAT or the retake for Chem SAT II affect his chances?</p>

SAT I : 2330 (740 R, 790 M, 800 W) (2 sittings; 1st sitting 2300 [740,790,770], 2nd sitting 2260 [720, 740, 800])
SAT II: 800 Bio M, Math II 780, Chem (1st 720, 2nd 780), US History 700
Unweighted GPA: 4.0 Weighted: 4.57
Rank: top 1% of >700 (most likely 1 if everything goes well for this 1st semester)
AP: Chem, Bio, Physics C, English Lang, USH, Art History, Stat, Econ (Mic/Mac), Spanish
Senior Year Course Load: Heavy
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National AP Scholar w/ distinction, National Merit Commended, National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP), Gold Medal - Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards in Science (by HHF) for a certain multi-state region, National Ventures Scholar.</p>

<p>Extracurricular:</p>

<p>Jazz Band (4 years)
Officer (4 years) A biology and healthcare oriented club
Started a faith-based club (personally most important/influential extracurricular for him; 4 years founder/president)
Youth Group Worship Leader
Science Olympiad - 5th team in states, 6th in an event for states
State Chemistry Olympics (not chemistry olympiad) - 1st in Chemistry Research

<p>Additional Rec: From his summer research professor/mentor for Harvard but not for Yale</p>

<p>Other:
School Type: Public/competitive, acceptances to all Ivies and equal-caliber schools, etc.
Gender: M
Income Bracket: <50K
Parent Education/Employment: Dad B.S. and business owner, Mom high school and unemployed for 3 years.
Language: English is first but Spanish at home
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): URM (hispanic) (he’s a 5050 mix with asian and plan to put both on the common application)</p>

<p>Schools: His intended major is Biology with a minor or major in Economics or a minor in political science.</p>

<p>WOW! He seems like a solid candidate… Well the sad part is that HYP are really unpredictable… you cannot decide on what they are looking out for but Im sure he has a very good chance! About those mistakes, they wont have a minute or more to glance on the details other than essays, but I’d say you send them a mail with the details…</p>

<p>Dude not to sound like a braggart or anything but i’ve been looking with a Hispanic with equal or better stats than mine and i can honestly say you have better ones than me. You have ECs, SATs, URM, Volunteer hours…you’re set. However like the other kid said HYP are unpredictable but i dont see why you wouldnt get in. Best of Luck! If you can chance me back!</p>

<p>Thanks to both of you! He was hoping those mistakes on the supplement would be minor. The score report for all tests was sent to Yale, so he didn’t say all the other scores in the supplement . Hopefully they don’t pay it much mind! Anybody else have any opinions?</p>

<p>I would say he has a great chance at both H and Y. I predict he gets into at least one of them. Judging from his stats, he’s had a brilliant high school career! Congrats to him for working so hard.</p>
